Skokie SwiFters Run/Walk Club

NOTE: This weekend's Scamper is on Sunday instead of Saturday, due to the Stretch Class at Fabletics after the run. Still three spots left--sign up here!

Skokie Swifters is a run/walk club for anyone from beginners to experienced distance runners. Whether you just want to get moving outside, are looking to make some new friends, or are looking for a little motivation while you train for an upcoming race, you'll find a welcome community in the Swifters. See our Calendar page for info about our meetings and events or our Race Log to see all the area races Swifters have coming up or have taken part of--and then come meet us at one of them! Stay Swifty!

The Third Annual End of the Dumpster Fire Year/So Long 2022 20-ish Miler

In 2020, Sabrina decided to run the entirety of the North Branch Trail (~20 miles) on New Year's Eve as a way to say SO LONG to the ridiculous year that was, and friends came along to support. She did it again last year, and even more people came out; thus, a tradition has been born! Please join us for what we hope will be the biggest turnout yet!

Come join us for a few miles or meet us along the trail or at the finish to cheer us on. This is an altogether run - meaning it's not a race and it's not meant to be fast. This is a let's-enjoy-each-other's-company-and-be-grateful-that-we-GET-to-run run 🙂

It's the Swifty way of saying so long to a really bizarro year - again! You can find all the details on the Dumpster Fire 20-ish Miler page.

Tuesday Trails Special Edition - January 10, 2023

Join us for a special edition of Tuesday Trails: the Breaking Stigma in Stride Virtual 5k! See details and below; and remember to join our Swifter team when signing up! Please note that the official date is January 1, but we'll be doing our run as a group on January 10

Looking for a way to start off 2023 on the right foot (both mentally and physically)?! Then join Still I Run, the country's largest running community that's all about mental health on January 1, 2023 (Jan 10 for us Swifters) for the annual Breaking Stigma in Stride 5K. This virtual event is a great way to kick off the new year and serves as an easy and fun way to run against the stigma and raise money and awareness for mental health. All proceeds from the race go to Still I Run, a national non-profit aimed at promoting the benefits of running for mental health, defeating the stigma, and providing a safe and inclusive running community centered around mental health.

Entry into the 5K includes a limited edition fleece earband, medal [designed by our very own Shawn King from For the Run!] and entry into the raffle! Raffle prizes are many and include some from Altra shoes! There's also a downloadable virtual bib to print out and wear the day of! Be sure to have your bib printed to wear together when we gather at Sketchbook.

HAPPY Holidays from the Skokie Swifters

May your days be merry and bright! Enjoy these pictures from our 2nd Annual Ugly Holiday Sweater Beer Run. We had a great time and we want to once again thank Sketchbook Brewing, Temperance Beer, Double Clutch Brewing, and Smylie Brothers Brewing, for hosting us and treating us so well!

We're honored to have a new beer from Sketchbook Brewing named in our honor--The Cooldown is on sale now! From the can:

"Be like the Swifters and make your way to Sketchbook for beer and good company. The Skokie Swifters Run/Walk Club makes SB their home base, and however you travel, all are welcome to join for The Cooldown.

Great after a hot summer run or just chilling with friends, this cream ale is clear and sparkling. Dry-hopped with Michigan hops for a crisp and refreshing finish."
